Buy the right soil

The kind of soil you buy can really make a difference in how fast your flowers or vegetables grow. It might be expensive at first, but it'll pay off. Make sure to buy soil that has a lot of minerals in it. Add more soil to your garden every 3 to 4 weeks to ensure the minerals don't get rained out.

Bone meal
by: Anonymous

Bone meal is very good when addd to the soil in small quantities. You can add fish bones and other bones instead of disposing them in garbage

I learned it the hard way
by: Trish

I moved from Iowa (rich, moist Midwest soil) to Central Florida (sand) and I had no idea how important buying the right soil is. I found the best thing to do is ask at the nursery what kind of soil to use with whatever it is I'm buying. They know what they're doing.
And you're right, just once when you plant is not enough. Again, ask your nursery professional when and how much to add.
