Cub Cadet RZT50 Zero Turn 50" Deck Rider Lawn Mower
We like the mower because it is fast and nimble. We have lots of stuff to trim around and this mower gets really close and does a great job of that. It is powerful enough for the hills in our yard and takes on tall grass with no trouble. Our 4 acre yard is half native prairie and half fescue. This mower handles both those with no effort. It is also easy to handle despite the power. It turns sharply and controls well. One feature we really like is outlet that allows us to attach the garden hose. Turn on the hose at the faucet, engage the blades and it does a fine job of washing out from underneath the deck.
The design could be improved by moving the throttle to the right side of the machine. When trimming, tree branches often hit the throttle and cuts the throttle back. Rather than two arms for control, the machine could be controlled by a joy stick instead. The seat is comfortable and well-designed but some more thought could have been given to noise reduction. It is really pretty loud.
Changing the oil is not hard, though the drain plug could be put in a handier location. Filter is conveniently located. To grease the mower deck, one has to crawl under it so I’d say the zerks could have been put somewhere easier to access. After five years, the belts have not needed to be replaced and no other repairs have been necessary. It has about 150 hours on it now, so that seems satisfactory. For the price, it’s a good mower.
