cold weather

I live in up state NY where we have very cold winters so I have found that putting water remover in the gas tank and taking the spark plug out and covering the hole with celophan will help keep you mower running great in the spring! PS remeber where you put your spark plug!

Sta-bil
by: Anonymous

The important thing to remember is use a good fuel stabilizer. I use sta-bil. Gas left for extended periods of time in a tank will varnish the tank and your carburetor. One of the most common problems with equipment not working the following season is a gummed up carburetor. Any good fuel stabilizer will preserve the fuel in the tank for at least 6 months and it should start up beautifully the following season.

One more tip

In addition to gas stabilizer add a tablespoon of motor oil directly into the cylinder head and turn the motor over a few times with the plug out. That will distribute oil inside the cylinder and prevent condensation and rust over the winter.
